Good Thursday afternoon my RP Brothers and Sisters!

Nearly a week ago, I posted a report regarding my SIster Beverly and the tough news that she broke her right hip while attempting to get into the shower last Thursday morning... Suffice it to say that it has been a difficult week for her, with the surgery necessary and the initial pain associated... I've included an image of a similar surgical implant of a "Gamma Nail" that was performed on Beverly. My sister, age 75, was born with a form of Down Syndrome, and can talk to get a thought across, but cannot write, count money and do all the things that you and I do each day, every day... It has also been a very draining week for me as her managing guardian to work out the details for placing her in a rehabilitation facility following the surgery... The stress associated with a short timeline and having my sister's recovery in my hands, so-to-speak, exacerbated the short term stress. I have done that in the past for my mom, and basically spent a year of my life working for her with two falls, dementia, house sale, and more... Beverly's situation was not nearly as difficult, but still stressful...

I am pleased to report that I was able to successfully place her in an excellent Nursing/Rehabilitation facility...She was moved from the hospital late yesterday afternoon and accepted into the Rehab facility. Today was her first day and she did quite well... Some pain, but not nearly as bad as the previous 6 days. I am now at peace that I have done all I needed to do to get her positioned for 5-6 days per week of Physical and Occupational Therapy. Next Tuesday, God willing, I am headed for FLorida for the balance of the winter except for any unforeseen events that might bring me back to my MA home...

I hope to be back in the swing of things to both Post and Respond as I have previously been doing, but I know there are still things to be handled for Beverly, so I will ease back in... Thank you all for understanding my situation and for voting me up wherever you could... I very much appreciate all the encouraging notes.
My Best to all,
Kerry

I've seen this procedure done; it definitely requires rehab.
