But it's from Breitbart, so even though it's true, it's going to get dismissed by democrats.

It isn't bullshit because it is from Breitbart, it is bullshit because Cruz is misrepresenting his proposed legislation. It is moot because the Air Force failed to report, so there were no records to reference. Beyond that, the legislation has a section related to "Assisting Veterans". The section defines the term "Qualified Veteran" as "‘‘(i) has served on active duty in any branch of the Armed Forces, including the National Guard and reserve components and (ii) was discharged or released from such service under conditions other than dishonorable." Kelley got out on a BCD, not dishonorable, so he would have been considered a "Qualified Veteran". The legislation works to keep "Qualified Veterans" out of jail (incarceration), not put them in. Read further and you will see how it attempts to extend 2A rights to felons that meet criteria. Cruz is, as usual, full of shit. Don't believe me? Read it yourself.

Also - the bill was not filibustered. It was voted on and failed to get the 3/5 majority required.

Breitbart fails to mention that 9 Democrats voted in favor of the Cruz legislation and 2 Republicans against. Could it be that the article wouldn't support the narrative that their alt-right readers want to hear. Hmm

The Democrats that voted for it are all from southern or Midwestern states where people love their guns. (MTx2, AK, IN, NC, ND, LA, MO, AR)

The one Republican that voted against it was from IL. The two independents that voted against it were from ME and VT.

In this case the party affiliation doesn't seem to mean as much in this case as where they're from.

So it turns out that it's the Dems doing the bidding for the NRA, and the GOP has been trying to pass gun control legislation. I'll be damned......I've had that assbackwards all this time. And this shooting......it's Obama's fault. Thanks for setting us straight Senator Cruz.....I had no idea (roll eyes here).

SSG(P) (Join to see) - Yet all these mass shooting murderers were each law abiding citizens with no felony record and whom easily gained access to guns. And don't bother with the "if the USAF had dishonorably discharged him and filed a report to the Feds so he couldn't pass a background check" argument because a background check isn't required in every state or at gun shows to buy a gun; GOP have fought hard against nationwide universal background checks.

Wrong sir. The gunshow loophole is a myth. Background checks are required. And even if they did report him it may not have stopped it.

SSgt Gary Andrews - In my state, we've had concealed carry for everyone over age 16 since the late 1770's. If a person is younger than 16, they can carry with a signed note from Mom or Dad. We're also the first or second safest state, with a homicide rate lower than most European countries. Imagine that.
