For the first time in more than a generation, Chinook salmon have spawned in the upper Columbia River system.
Colville Tribal biologists counted 36 redds, a gravely nest where female salmon lay eggs, along an 8-mile (12-kilometer) stretch of the Sanpoil River, a tributary of the Columbia, in September, the Spokesman Review-Journal reported.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel Wow! That Sanpoil River and Colville, WA
are almost in Canada! Quite a journey for those Salmon. The dead Salmon I have seen in streams in Canada looked like they had swam through a washing machine only to die at their destination.

CSM Charles Hayden Definitely a Unique Fish. I only went salmon fishing on Adak, My Son lives in Washington and I raised Him to be a Fisherman but He is Much better with Salmon than I could ever hope to be.
