Hello all, this is my first post, a funny fishing story...

My wife and son have been really getting into fishing lately, just for fun at our local lake. Since Shannon hasn’t fished in years, she just bought a cheap pole that doesn’t work very well.

A woman at the lake saw her struggling with this crappy pole, so she came over to offer her spare.

“This pole belonged to my best friend, who sadly passed away just last year. She and I have been fishing this lake for years, and this was her lucky pole. I think she would really like if I gave it to someone who could use it.”

Of course Shannon was moved by her story, and happy to accept the gift.

“Give it a try!”, encouraged the kind woman, after she showed her how to use it.

But Shannon was already used to the other pole, so she put way too much effort into it. I saw the look of horror and desperation on their faces as she accidentally flung the pole deep into the cold lake on her first cast.

I wish I had it on video, it was hilarious! Goodbye, “lucky-best-friend pole”, we barely knew ya...
