Interesting LTC (Join to see). I became non-deployable for a serious heart condition in the late 1990s. The Army wanted me so I was mobilized from November 2001 to May 2004.
They kept brining me back for specific tasks through 2008. Each time I had to sign two waivers indicating I would not demand to stay of active duty since I had over 18 years active Federal military service.
Most of what I worked on is classified.

Some military duties and skill sets make sense to be deployable but others don't.

Steven, I'm glad they were able to fix your heart and you were able to serve your country! That's the way I feel, if the person is injured but has all this knowledge, why not keep him or her in the rear detachment and help the unit down range?

I'd like to know more about the 3% permanently undeployable. However 15% undeployable seems high as even an ate up PT zero can load clips, KP and so on. As well as a friend who was in the 75th deployed with a broken arm seems there is wide discretion in the definition of "undeployable."

75th training command? What was his specialty that he could still work with two broken arms?

11B - Only one arm - he was in Somalia during the whole Blackhawk Down - the injury occurred in country on a prior mission - he was tasked with non direct action stuff like getting water. Another guy was as well jacked up in country - wrestling a COL with Delta - but he flew out due to his injury.

Had a couple of these guys over a while back - the wives and girlfriends hung out - while we cut loose in the back yard. Reminds me I need to look Steve up - was never right after he got out.

75th Ranger regiment LOL that confuse me because I belongs to the 75th training command until it merged with the 84th training command a few months ago.
