We are more educated, more skilled and better leaders than our civilian counterparts

CMSgt Randy Beck - True. Very true. Pew Research Center actually did a poll on this, and the military is “liked,” well we contribute “a lot” to society’s well-being more than teachers, medical doctors, scientists, engineers, clergy, artists, journalist, business execs, and especially lawyers! It’s really no surprise considering all of the above are free to practice whatever the hell they enjoy because of the military! (See https://www.pewforum.org/2013/07/11/public-esteem-for-military-still-high/)

More does not equate to better, though.

The military pushes college. They also have grown around them some of the most decrepit institutions of "higher learning" in the history of education.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - Oh, that’s very true actually. EMs in general are cocky as hell, mainly because we hold the ‘keys to the kingdom’ on board the ship. You kill an element in an oven and DCC say’s it’ll be a 4-hour wait, some hot & fresh cookies just turned it into a 20-minute wait! Lights go out in Supply because of a blown fuse, a two minute ‘repair,’ and DCC says “we’re busy, we will get around to it,” something nice and shiny from the supply stash gets ‘unofficially issued’ to the duty EM, again a 20-minute wait! You wouldn’t believe what different departments would do to bribe us to literally get to the head of the line!!! As for me, give-or-take 10-years of VA Psychiatry, Happy Drugs, and Therapy as the ‘cherry on top’ and I’m even more of a super nice guy than I always was!

Oh, a CT & EM in the same family, now we’re talking some good gene pool material! LOLOLOL!

PO3 Jay Rose - My Dad was an ET in the US navy during both WWII and Korea. I certainly know He is very smart and someone I still look up to. Dad only lives about 4 miles from Me in the house I grew up in and over the years I continued to reap the advantage of His technical knowledge and ability As a civilian He still worked in those highly technical fields and anything electrical, electronic or even anything with moving parts, mechanical or electric was right down His alley and still is. His education also from Dartmouth College and North Eastern University was in Electrical Engineering. I wasn't that sharp with math esp, He was and tutored Me in math subjects to included,Algebra and geometry. My Brother and Sister though did get His match and science brains.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - I Love ETs. I Had Two working for Me at SPAWARS 6211/CNO WWMCCS, Two of the Smartest Guys I've ever Met, One was a Bloody Computer Network Genius and Was More than a Match for the Arrogant LCDR at NMCC that was "Our Client" at the Pentagon. I watched More than One Pissing Contest that My ET2 Never Backed Down.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - My Dad was an ET1 and then an acting ETC (You just get the job but not the rank) He was selected for Chief with 11 years service but had got married and had a small child me and decided to get out. I had long ago asked Him with 11 years You were half way there towards 20 , why did You get out ? He said I'd have liked to be a chief but I'd had enough.
