"U.S. leaders and their European allies are unprepared for the ways in which Russia's President Vladimir Putin is poised to wage war in Ukraine and the Baltic. The Russian military is well positioned to launch a short-notice conventional war in Ukraine and a hybrid war in the Baltic States, the opposite of what Western leaders seem to expect in each theater. NATO leaders increasingly warn of the threat of a conventional invasion of the Baltic States (or even Western Europe). But Russian ground forces are not deployed or organized to initiate a short-notice conventional war in that region."

The Chinese would love to have S China Sea as a buffer; the Russians will love to have friendly countries as a buffer.

No one said that Putin was a normal person when it comes to waging a war. Sneaky beggar that he is.

Putin has a sore Papa about Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania yeah it was Russia and Germany that had a pact before the invasion of Poland in September 1. 1939. That means Russia was complicit with Hitler in starting World War II . Russian history books will never discuss that fact.

And what if the Baltics are a feigned move to gather all eyes and focus.... while the real movement is in the Balkans...

We need to remind the Russians that they stole Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. They never deserved it and it was part of the spoils that Hitler and Stalin agreed to prior to the beginning of World War II. Yes, they're not entitled to but just because they had it in the past doesn't mean they deserve the baltics in the present or the future. There is the ongoing threat where they could invade from kaliningrad or Western Russia and overrun the baltics in 2 or 3 days. That is why the US Canada and others fly air patrols and have exercises in the baltics
