For that last couple of years, I've taken an interest in the Freemasons. I can't really explain why, but it is something I want to do. However, for the next 6 years, I will be extremely busy with [at the minimum] school.
Note: I know little about Freemasons. Advice I've read online was "don't research answers, it will ruin the surprise." I happen to like surprises, so I've refrained from digging.

I wanted to join when I was in Drill Sergeant school and I waited, but that's because there is a lot of memorizing involved in DS school.
If you join a lodge, you can make as most or as little of it as you wish. The brothers are there for you regardless of your involvement.
It's a great group of guys. You will make fast friends. Don't wait.

Massive memorization was a huge factor for generations of Freemasons, me included. It no longer is in nearly all fifty Grand Lodges. What memorizing is required is very minimal and very simple.

I have memory problems (due to my Multiple Sclerosis), and in the Brotherhood of Freemasonry, they only want you to succeed. I would get on the journey, and enjoy the excellent friendships and Brotherhood the Masonic family offers! IMHO

Join most lodges will understand. I am a Master Mason. I did my Scottish Rite and Royal Arch Mason in Kandahar.

Go for it. Due to my obligations outside of my lodge, I barely get to attend but I still keep in touch. No worries. :)
