Thanks SGT John " Mac " McConnell for reminding us about the noble steel pot which was formally known as the M1 which had the same nomenclature as a noble weapon the M1 Rifle.
I was issued the M1 in each unit I served in from November 1974 to early 1985 when it was replaced.
