So I successfully completed a 4 year active term and after being out for two years decided come back into the reserves but I haven’t been able to pass the PT test since coming back. Want to know what are the repercussions for getting kicked out due to failing a pt test. Will it hinder me from getting a clearance, will it affect my GI Bill, etc?

the active Army is implementing the ACFT which is 6 events. The APFT is a walk in the park comparing to the ACFT. Just putting things into prospective for you. SPC Onel Cruz

It is dependent on the commanding general of the down trace unit you are in.
My impression is average soldiers will make it to ETS before they get kicked out for APFT failures.

That said, BELOW average soldiers with additional issues who put their but on a silver platter with APFT failures and excessive absences will find the USAR will blow over bigger disciplinary problems that would potentially take up more IG and JAG time to purse. It will execute action based on black and white APFT and attendance regulations where the only thing JAG will do is make sure the packet is compiled correctly.

I personally have used my "lack of action" to bar a soldier from re-enlisting. With a current failed APFT score he cannot reenlist without "my" waiver. He was a problem child in other aspects but I really couldn't get him kicked out because of it. He reached ETS, he wanted to stay in (oddly) and needed my waiver.

So I saw it as a Golden Opportunity to finally get rid of him. I didn't give him a waiver to re-enlist. But he still had two weeks to pass the APFT.

The son of a gun passed the APFT, and it was conducted by my full time staff that didn't want him around either. No one did him any scoring favors.

It's amazing how much extra one can push out when it matters.

If you are chaptered for APFT failure, this will depend on what the Commander and the approving authorities recommend/decide. Most APFT Chapters I have seen.....unless you're an absolute D-Bag.....walk away with an Honorable and full benefits.
