Can I use the green to gold program to get an advanced degree?

I already have a BS and MS and would like to go for my PhD in say epidemiology, public health, or infectious diseases in the near future. Can I do that through this program and is there a minimum amount of time I need to serve as enlisted before I qualify for this program? Thank you for the info.

Sorry, no TA and G2G can't be used for a PhD. The Army has other routes for many PhD programs, but not all. A viable possibility you might want to check out is that USUHS has a MD/PhD researcher program. They will commission you, send you to school full time while on active duty and pay all your expenses to license.

Thank you for suggesting USUHS. They got just the kind of courses I want, their PhD program in Emerging Infectious Diseases is right up my alley but I don't know if Army will send me to school full-time while on active duty and pay all my expenses for a non-MD program like that.

USUHS is not an academy you go to, it's a full medical school run by the uniformed services. If you are accepted to attend you will be commissioned as a 2LT and graduate as a CPT. You will attend school in a full time, active duty status. You will owe 8 years to the Army in return.

SFC (Join to see) Oh yes I know that USUHS is an actual university, I was just wondering if Army would shell out the funds for schooling someone who wants to pursue a non-medical PhD because medical degrees or people with medical degrees are highly sought after in the military.
So if I get accepted into a non-medical PhD program at USUHS, then I won't have to ETS, I can stay active duty while attending college full time and committing 8 years of service to the Army after I graduate - is what I'm understanding from your comment.

SPC (Join to see) yes exactly. Attending USUHS incurs a commitment to the branch that sponsors you. I was specifically talking about the dual MD/PhD program they have, but I know they have other programs as well.

SPC Gibson, G2G can be used for Bachelors or Masters. PhD programs are usually longer. Also, most PhD programs are fully funded so it’s not necessary to look for funding options, but the school would be happy if you have external ones. Shoot me an email if you wanna know more of doctorate programs. I’m in PhD program in Chemistry.

I don't know about the active duty option (where you're paid full time) but i believe you can for just the scholarship G2G where you ETS and then go to school.
