"On October 29, 1971, Duane Allman of The Allman Brothers Band was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle on a Macon, Georgia street while trying to swerve to avoid a tractor-trailer and was thrown from the motorcycle. The motorcycle bounced into the air, landed on Allman and skidded another 90 feet with Allman pinned underneath. He was three weeks shy of his 25th birthday."

Great song and band that started out in Daytona Beach as the "Allman Joys".
Performing at the Ocean Pier in Daytona. Duane and Gregg Seabreeze High School
first band at the pier. Great times at the beach Dave.

Dave, my girlfriend knew Gregg's girlfriend and she introduced me to Gregg and Duane
at the Ocean Pier while their band was taking a fifteen minute break from their song set
on stage. We sat at a table and talked not about music but their Seabreeze High School
football team and our Mainland High football team. Seabreeze High and Mainland High
were big time rivals in sports back then and I guess they still are today. Gregg and Duane
were just down to earth high school kids back then before they became famous as the Allman Brothers Band years later. As I recall Duane dropped out of Seabreeze High School
before graduating to focus on his music career. Gregg did graduate from Seabreeze High
as I recall. In the photo of the band playing at the Ocean Pier Duane is the guitarist on the left next to the drummer and Gregg is the blonde guitarist on the far right. A second
photo of the band at the Pier. Good memories from the Ocean Pier dance floor.
