To get to the crux of the matter, it has nothing to do with velocity, it has to do with being a scary looking firearm. Maybe if we have them made in in pretty pastel colors the anti gun crowd would like them better.

If it had a wooden stock like a Ruger mini 30 or mini 14, they'd probably think it is ok. I guess black is too scary.

SP5 Ronald Williams - You are correct. During the Brady Bill hearings the NRA had 2 tables set up. Black guns on one and wood stocks on the other. I think it was Schumer that said the Mini 14 was fine, as it was a wooden stock. The presenter pointed out that it and the ARs were functionally the same and it got quiet.
