Plans for a controversial gold mine that would have been developed near the world’s largest sockeye salmon run have been blocked.
Joe Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency stepped in to restore protections for Bristol Bay in Alaska and prevent the Pebble Mine project.
The EPA announced that it will use the Clean Water Act to protect the salmon-rich waters from being contaminated by material from a mine.

Having fished Bristol Bay and its tributaries recreationally I am glad someone is looking out for the habitat there, its spectacular and would be such a shame for some company to come in there and ruin it. I know they have said they can mine in such a way as not to but I don't trust them.

SPC Les Darbison - I am confused, how we can tell a sovereign nation that they can or can’t build a pipeline to another sovereign nation. If anything, those nations between the two nations would have a say, in this case Ukraine, Poland, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, The Check Republic but how do we as the US? This is an honest nonpolitical question. How and why should we stop it. If we have enough natural resources to last until a more profitable alternative can be found, why does it matter that Russa does with a pipeline?

PO2 Robert Miller - Did I read something wrong? Didn't Trump put pressure on Germany to halt that pipeline? With threats to move some air bases out of Germany. With comments like we are here defending you (Germany) and your buying energy from Russia, the country where here to protect you from! Because their move to import energy from Russia is a Bidensec failure of Strategy. All Russia has to do is close down that pipeline in the dead of winter. And Germany will most likely capitulate to their demands.
