-Deter, -Detect, -Delay, -Decisive force
Actually the list in the article is pretty good. The author down plays a firearm for protection, which I don't agree with, but otherwise solid ideas.

Good info. I think the "This house protected by..." sign is an effective deterrent.

Definitely can be. The problem with all forms of deterrence, is that you really can't measure the effectiveness. Just because you haven't had a break-in, doesn't mean your deterrence is great.... -you still have to do it, but you have to plan for what to do if it fails.

I agree with ya MSGT all good ideas but me and my son have alot of guns and me both of my son's know how to use them we are not going to adopt the hide and hope the intruder doesn't hurt or kill you. I hope to god that I never have to shoot or kill anybody but I will if you threaten me my family or anybody else
