I remember in 73, guys were buying a new Trans Am, they said it'll be waiting for them when they got back home. I thought about a Z-28 then, but not with a PFC pay. Took me another 2 years to get a used 1971 MGB, in Fort Bragg.
Then getting back home in 75, I traded that MGB for a 68 SS Camaro, lucky I had the MGB.
Oh, that 68 SS, 350 four bolt main, Isk cam and lifters, Edelbrock intake, 750 double pumper Holley, Mister Gasket 13"x3" air cleaner, Hooker chrome side pipes, 4 on the floor Muncy M-22 rock crusher, Jet black with white stripes, and a AM radio. Lol

Oh, Yeah, Cragar mags, with Mickey Thompsons, N-50x15 tires on the rear.

Did I mention about the beautiful girl in the passenger seat, she had Posi Traction. VmmmmVmmmm. Lol

LTC (Join to see) - I always thought that the 73 Trans Am style has a better look then the later ones.
In 75 before I got out, a good friend bought a 75 Trans Am with a 455 Super Duty, he would always pull up to my PutPut MGB and burn rubber. I think I loved that car better then him. Lol
The color was the same as in your picture, the only thing I didn't like about the Trans Am was, those honey cone rims, I always wondered how hard it was to clean them.
When I got back home in 75, my father's friend had a green 68 Fire Bird, that car was good looking, and the rear tail lights were something else, like strips of tail lights.

On deployment, car magazines are as popular as pin up girls.

Absolutely. Cars and motorcycle magazines worked for me. Lots to dream about. I converted a crotch rocket rider to Harley-Davidsons during our 4+ months in Kuwait.

SCPO Morris Ramsey - For sure. We didn't have the same amount of leisure time in Iraq for some reason! Imagine that.

This is when Buick actually made decent cars. In 1987, Buick was embarrassed their grand national GNX beat the Corvette from 0 to 60.
It is so sad to see Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Mercury.and Pontiac be discontinued
. American motors did come out with a couple muscle cars but it was too late.

TSgt David L. - I had three Novas, 65, 67 and a 70, the 65 had a 350 put in it before I got it, the 67 I bought used in LA while going to welding school 1986, it had it's straight 6 in it, the 70, It had a 350 with a 3 speed stick shift.
I should have kept that 70, it was a good runner, but when I got with my 2nd wife, I had to sale it.

TSgt David L. - I would have kept it, but when I finished welding school, I didn't have $2000 to ship it back to Guam. So, I sold it for what I paid for it, $900.
