I have never and will never put my life on the line for a politician. I'm not in a cult like Trump supporters. I don't idolize anyone I vote for. Even if there's a politician I like, if I disagree with something they say or a policy they support I criticize them. That's how normal human beings work - not brainwashed cult members. So I don't know what you're talking about with "put their life at risk for a politician." I'm not doing that nor is any sane person I know who I work with.

If you think the military of today is perfect and harmonious, you are terribly delusional. I wouldn't expect you to get it though. It may not be as bad as it was but there is still racism. There is still sexism - I have lived with sexism in my military career. I have been judged solely because I have a vagina and had to prove myself to the males in my unit - and my first enlistment was in a mostly male unit. I have been sexually harassed. Sexually assaulted. I was a SARC - and had to work with victims first hand. Including male victims. Perpetrated by other males. So sit down and stfu because you have no clue what you're talking about at all.

And it's called Military Sexual Trauma for sexual abuse victims - MST and PTSD are common among the survivors. Female AND male.
