Hmm I would say her first mistake was not taking care of her cars. 120k is nothing on the cars of today with proper maintenance. If she could get a loan for a new car she get one for repairs. All in all she needed professional help in handle her money all together. her problems go further than 3 mistakes I'm afraid.
