This may sound harsh or crude but when I was deployed I knew who the enemy was. At home it could be anyone of any race, creed, or origin. I am not a paranoid person but I'm also not going to get caught with my head in a hole.

AMEN to that, well said. I do not want to be involved or cut down as we saw in Chattanooga. That was horrible and so very sad.

California is afraid that as a, retired and previously deployed, veteran, I am too big a risk to allow to conceal and carry. I know, but that's how f'ed up CA politicians are. I need to move.

Folks....I'm sorry...is it me or does this not make sense? If you DO conceal carry...why would you answer this question in a public forum - and RP is a public forum....
Answering this question for conceal carriers is absolutely foolish..........

I used to be a Corrections Officer, so my situational awareness is always switched on. I sit with my back to a wall whenever I am in a restaurant where I have a clear view of the main entrance and if possible, any other entrances. I constantly watch people; their body language, their demeanor, their expressions, etc. So anyone knowing that I am armed is irrelevant; want to try your luck, that's on you. I have already had that talk with myself regarding pulling the trigger in self-defense on someone else. I came to the conclusion that if only one person is walking away, I want that person to be me. If someone approaches me and/or my family in an aggressive manner, if withdrawing is not an option, that person will get drawn on at the very least.
