Angels are mentioned a lot in the Bible, both in the Old and New testaments. They have many roles besides being messengers: They are spoken of as sometimes appearing as men and they can eat, converse and physically touch those they help, besides performing supernaturally :

Genesis 19 The angels appeared as ordinary men but were sent as a supernatural physical presence to rescue Lot and his family. Besides conversing with the family and eating with them, the angels physically pulled Lot back into his home before they struck the wicked men at his door with blindness (vs 9-10). The angels then grabbed his hand and those of his wife and his two daughters and “led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them.”(vs 16)

Numbers 22: 22-35 Angels can be destroyers and hinderers. In the story of Balaam , an Angel would’ve destroyed him had his donkey not refused to go forward.

Acts 12 shows a messenger / deliverer angel from God who came and spoke to Paul as he was bound between 2 soldiers, released him from his binds, then led him out of the prison and opened the city gate, invisible to the guards. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts%2012&version=NKJV

Heb 1:14 “Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation?” (AMPC)

Hebrews 13:2. “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unaware.” (Indicates angels can approach us as people)

Sgt (Join to see) Guessing you may have had some type of interesting personal experience . . .
Although unexplainable (unbelieveable to many) when you are out and about, and encounter an angel looking like a regular - even in passing on a sidewalk, for example - you know. (Regardless of why an angel is present or for whom.) I can't explain it. However, when it happens, you know.
It is different than encountering someone in passing you might nod too; different from chit chatting with someone when it feels like some type of neutral or non-threatening connection.
I am not convinced angels show up in only crisis or emergency circumstances - although there is likely some message being delivered that is needed and resonates.
I'm not at all sure it is something we would know at the time, in normal everyday circumstances when actually interacting with such a "person". Although, I do think, in retrospect, it pops into ones mind, unexpectedly at least, to wonder. Being recognized is probably not the intent, because talking about such an experience has been known to raise questions about a persons sanity - even when it is a religious belief and/or experience.
No doubt recognition of the presence of an angel has something to do with ones spiritual state of mind and heart at the time, or later. Recognizing one has seen such a "person" perhaps does not happen if a person's connection to source is not strong at the time. like it is being clouded or worse being blocked . . . by who knows what . . .

When I’m reminded of angels, SSG William Jones, Archangel Michael comes to mind. Saint Michael is the patron saint of the airborne. This statue is located at Caserma Ederle in Vicenza, Italy, which is home to the 173rd Airborne Brigade.

The statue is beautifully done. Truly an outstanding homage to our great paratroopers, and the rich history that they own.
