Jacqueem I think the servicemember has to take the initiative and ask. One of the things that frustrate me the most is a servicemember that do not have sense of urgency. In the last week or so I had about 5 servicemembers that returned my call and they said I am calling because I received your email about 1 1/2 months ago....really. How would you recommend I support someone like tha. Trust me I am not sitting around waiting for their call.

Servicemember be on the offense take charge of your career.

SGT (Join to see) - There are numerous recruiters on LinkedIn under the Group- Veteran Mentor Network that will assist if asked. I know they offer assistance with resumes and building a LinkedIn profile. I have never read of anyone asking about assistance with their RP profile.

LTC (Join to see) - True. VMN is great. You've just stated the reason why I'm asking about RP profiles. :)

LTC (Join to see) - sir the other thing to help you out is apply for the role and then go on linked in and target recruiters at the company. Ask to connect with them. Then you build a relationship with them so you are working top down approach applying for role....and inside out connecting with someone in the company that can get you some mileage.

SGT (Join to see) - the challenge is the service member will go to me....then to someone else and then someone else and at the end of it all they are totally confused. Because they are focusing on trying to make it dress right dress. Get a product and connect with people to develop relationships. Ultimately find the product you like and go with it test it and see if you are getting hits. I may see it one way and someone else will see it another way.

I'm not a recruiter, but I have given some feedback from time to time.

With your background and a security clearance you should have no issue landing a quality job. I'd say that the toughest choice you will have is location. I'd worry more about my LinkedIn profile and networking with civilian recruiters. You contact them, don't wait for someone to read your resume.
Good Luck.

The jobs I'm looking for are rarely seen on Clearancejobs.

SGT (Join to see) - Yes, I understand. % wise most jobs are not advertised on a job board or social networking site. They are already in the business or a referral. Time to break your Rolodex out.
