I am a 66 y/o, 70% disabled veteran with mobility issues. My wife is a veteran and has terminal cancer. I have suddenly been released from my teaching position due to Covid-19. We are now faced with eviction. Where can we apply to for help?

There is a Program that most vets is not aware of. Volunteers of America can help you bills, rent, eviction and other things and they are pretty quick with assistance. Contact them and see if they offer service in your area.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I also have contacted the Red Cross. Just waiting to hear back.

I would start locally by inquiring about programs and/or information first from your city, then county, then state as well as any local non-governmental organizations and religious organizations.

Good luck!

You can get Unemployment. You both should be getting disability checks already.

I have tried but I was classified as an at will contactor so the state didn't have to pay into unemployment insurance.

I'm afraid it was. But I have filed under the CARES act and they are just being stubborn.
