1 Sept. 1950: 13 NKPA divisions assault the Pusan perimeter.

ILLUSTRATIONS: (1) An M46 tank moves into position overlooking the Naktong River line in anticipation of an NKPA attack. (2) Men of the Turkish Bde. search NKPA troops captured during the attack on the Pusan perimeter. (3) NKPA troops pick over an abandoned artillery position in the 34th Inf. Regt.'s sector outside of Taejon. (4) Pfc. Leslie Burris and Pvt. Edward Meyers of A Co., 2d Cbt. Eng. Bn., destroy the first of three T-34 tanks with their 3.5-inch bazooka during the defense of the Pusan perimeter. (5) Men of the 24th Inf. Div.'s TF Smith attempt to slow NKPA armor advancing southward toward the Pusan perimeter. (6) 67th FBS, 18th FBW F-51Ds attack a column of NKPA tanks advancing toward the Pusan perimeter. (7) Lt. William Hudson turns his F-82G twin Mustang sharply to go after a Russian-built aircraft supporting NKPA forces attacking the Pusan perimeter.

Great photos and pictures. Did not realize tge Twin Mustangs flew in Korea. Thought they were an "one off" experiment during WW2.

No, they were a postwar experiment. Only about 100 were built.

I remember sticking my head out of a 110 Howitzer to drive it around Germany during peace time. What a thrill to feel the power of that machine in your hands. Bulldoze in to steady up support getting ready to shoot a 200 pound projectile 20 miles down range. I was one of the lucky ones, I got to feel the power of war machines without ever having to shoot at real people.
