Good Tuesday, January 7, 2020 my friend COL Mikel J. Burroughs and thank you for posting the focus of the day as harmony.
1. Initial thought: Harmony Church at Fort Benning where I served as a company commander of an infantry training company from February 1985 to September 1986.
2. My second thought: musical harmony such as in a barbershop quartet and most choral groups and many classic rock musical groups from MOTOWN [Supremes, Temptations, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Martha and the Vandellas and so many others] through The Beatles.
3. Third thought: martial and family harmony which is more challenging to consistently maintain. Learning to give and take and that no relationship is really 50-50. Generally, one spouse is more gifted in many areas and the other is gifted in many others - opposites attract after all :-)
The LORD God is a shining example of perfect harmony - Father, The Word [Son] and Holy Spirit have always existed in perfect harmony in wisdom, knowledge, creation, and every other aspect of incommunicable and communicable attributes.
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit with the soul of each of HIS adopted sons and daughters as HE sanctifies each one of us is improving harmony in this age among the body of Christ as well as neighbors and those we work with.
Ephesians 5:22-30 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
[Marriage Like Christ and the Church]
"Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. Thank YOU, dear God for YOUR perfect example of harmony in relationship. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for indwelling the soul of each of us and improving harmony with YOU as well as everybody we interact with.
I pray for wisdom. The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord which means honoring and respecting HIM to the highest degree we can. I pray that we each love our neighbors since we demonstrate love to God by how we treat and love others.
I pray that YOU increase harmony between spouses primarily. I pray that husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and that wives respect their husbands in honor of their respect of Christ. Children honor your parents that you may prosper in your soul.
I pray for increased harmony between parents and guardians of school children and the teachers and school boards across this nation. I pray for increased respect for people “on the other side” among all involved.
I pray for increased harmony among the various denominations in the body of Christ which are actually have a majority of sincere believers. Empower and enable clergy, elders and church members to focus on the essentials of the gospel. Empower each with grace to tolerate those aspects, policies and worship styles that offend them.
I pray for increased harmony across partisan lines throughout this nation especially among elected and appointed officials. I pray for unity of effort to do good from local, through state to federal level.
I pray that each one of YOUR adopted children and their loved ones sleep well Tuesday night.
