So the gist of this Florida law is that localities can not make ordinances or policies that seek to circumvent or supersede State or Federal Law. It calls out local officials that do so, and creates a mechanism to remove them from office if they continue to do so.
It is very difficult for me to find fault with the mindset here, but I will.
The process off removing an official from office - although I am not privy to Florida state law or it's state Constitution - is almost always the province of a local process. A recall vote, some form of impeachment process, a no-confidence vote by local leaders... something like that. Bringing that power to a governor deprives the city's or county's population to make the determination of who their elected officials should be. That is wrong.

My only question is if they assist someone in by-passing/breaking federal law, what should be the repercussion without potentially giving that power to a tyrant? Any thoughts?

SSG (Join to see) - Lawbreaking is lawbreaking, but if anything, it should be a federal statute. Charge them, have it have a big fine, 30 days in jail if they do it again... something like that.
Hit them in the pocketbook and I think their starch dries up.

SSG (Join to see) - Texas actually prosecutes ambulance chasers? Gotta love that. I wonder how it was that he didn't even have a primary challenger given the circumstances. I suppose the Texas Legislature will have to vote to expel him, then.
