Marine corps hymn
I know, I'm a deep turd for bringing it out in this politically sensitive democracy (don't hate on me too much) but the devil dogs seem to devalue Army and Navy when they say "...if the Army and the Navy ever look on heavens scenes, they will find the streets are guided (correction: guarded. Thanks, PO3 John Jeter) by United States Marines." Should they or should they not?? Let the showdown begin, heh heh

Petty Officer, when you die you can go through the Pearly Gates (assuming the Marines guarding them let you in (lol) or you can see your local Marine Recruiting Office and get PCS orders to heaven and guard them yourself. The Corps isn't changing anything to accommodate anyone's feelings of being devalued. Semper Fidelis!

1LT William Clardy - Speak for yourself, I am perfectly sane. It is all the idiots around me who are crazy.

CW2 Jalistair B, I respectfully disagree.
As a chief wobbly in command of a loose formation of wayward aircraft parts, you are traditionally excluded from all standard definitions of sane.
And the those people around you reflect the true nature of your presence (minus the evil genius which earned you that speckled bar on your collar).

If the Army and the Navy get their feelings hurt over those lyrics, what makes you think they would be worthy to guard the streets of Heaven?

Marines take as much crap as anyone from a trash-talking perspective and get more crap when it comes to funding/quality of life issues. So, if that means God flies a Marine Corps flag on his mansion, who are we to argue? ;-)

NOTE: IAW the rules of the kinder, gentler military, be advised that the above is said in jest and is not hate-speech or service branch-baiting. Further, it is not intended to imply that God endorses one branch over the other (He does...) or that the Air Force won't make it to Heaven.

Reminder....all of the major amphibious landings of WWII The Navy may have brought the Marines to the general neighborhood. It was the COAST GUARD that operated the landing craft that delivered the Marines and their equipment to the beach...the correct beach that is.

Not only no, but Hell no! I have served on two Gators and part of my blood runs green as a result. USS Cambria (APA/LPA -36) and USS Nashville (LPD-13). My Marine Det at Cherry Point taught me a lot when I was at my last Command - FASO.

I Love my Knox Class Frigates and I really, really fell head over heals for My ANZIO (CG-68) Aegis Cruisers are AWESOME!, but serving with Marines is a fantastic experience.

As I have said in another post, if it all goes nuts in this country and the bottom falls out, I would love to have a couple of Marines at my side and a US Navy Corpsman. So, if I find Marines Guarding Heavens Gates, when they are off duty, their drinks are on me in Fiddlers Green!!!
