Just make sure they have an A-10 handy with a good rescue helicopter because Senators feel that ,in a light threat environment, it won't get shot down and there's NO guarantee that plane won't get hit.

No. Bring back the sky raider in RVN could lower overhead for 6 hours carried more ordnance than an armory

The Douglas Skyraider had armored placed in the cockpit floor to prevent the pilot from getting hit from ground fire. I don't think that the super Tucano or the new Alpha Tango - 6 has that feature.

If they brought the Skyraider back make it a turbo prop instead! You don't need any exploratory research done because this warhorse has a history of taking it to the enemy and coming back.
