I was legally separated for a year, thanks to covid drew out my divorce a year later. I finally submitted the paper work and I am officially divorced. I want to marry my girlfriend and we don’t want to wait. Can I remarry so close after being divorced? My question is will the army not allow it or will I get in trouble since we got to get married a month or two after the divorce?

Is this a serious question? The Army doesn't care who you marry as long as they are legally of age and are consenting.
It's not up to the Army. It depends on the state you divorced. Example - the state my divorce in you cannot remarry for 6 months after it is final unless you remarry the person you divorced. Other states there is no waiting period.
What does your divorce decree say? Or if you look up divorce in whatever state you filed in? That's what matters.
I know of a MAJ who got remarried a month after his divorce was final - actually less than a month.

I appreciate you sharing that..I got divorced in Massachusetts. I didn’t see anything regarding a waiting period. I want to get married all for the right reasons. Why do you think we should hold off?

Divorce nisi
The divorce nisi is the time between when a judge grants your divorce and when the divorce becomes final. It gives both people a chance to change their minds and make sure that the other person didn’t lie about their property before the divorce is final. You don’t need to do anything during this time, and your divorce will become final automatically.
Final divorce
You can’t remarry until the nisi period is complete.
A “1A” divorce isn’t final until 120 days from the date of the judgment.
A “1B” divorce or fault divorce isn’t final until 90 days from the date of the hearing if a judgment is entered.
If you have a 1A divorce - which is a no fault divorce - and it's been 120 days since the judgement you are free to remarry. If you had a 1B which is a fault divorce and it's been 90 days since the judgement you can remarry anyone you wish.
I suggest not remarrying so soon after a divorce because the majority of time it doesn't work out. Maybe it will for you. "All the right reasons..." not sure what that even means.
It's your life - you do what you want. But after my divorce I was in no hurry to get remarried OR date. It would have been that way even if I wasn't a single mom too. You do you - just hope you thought it all through.

Thank you SFC for researching that information for me. I had my divorce enter the nisi period in September. I had my
own doubts but the I want to marry her because I recently found religion and I want to do things right this time. We were considering pre martial counseling too. My view on it is that life is short. I want to live it fully while doing the right thing all around. Thank you for taking the time out to advise me.

I guess it was a serious question SFC (Join to see). I had no idea as I've never been divorced. I am a widower and Catholic. I was working the fire department fair booth a few months after my wife died and my local priest was also on the fire department and was working with me. We were chatting and he said I could become a priest if I wanted to. I had no idea!

It depends on the state you were divorced in and the laws. Every state has a different waiting period to be remarried.

Depending on your state laws you might not even need to wait for the ink to be dry on the divorce decree...happened to a friend...
