How would you react if someone showed up to a uniform inspection with a ribbon rack like this?

This is why first line supervisors should "pre-inspect" their folks so there are no surprises.
This would have never made it past Team Leader to Squad Leader to Platoon Level.
Let's assume it's caught at Team level. The instant correction is to remove ALL ribbons, pending correction. Better to be "messed up" without than to be "messed up" with. Nuanced difference in screw up. Both wrong, but one is "more acceptable."
"If" there is time:
1) Have them assist me in the inspection process so they know what we are looking for.
2) Go with them to PX or Cash Sales and have them purchase the appropriate items. They purchase, I verify.
3) Have them pull out regulation manual (or appropriate orders), and create correct ribbon rack, and mount them correctly.
4) Repeat pre-inspection.

Perfect answer. If a subordinate makes a mistake like that, it's most probable a leader never took the time to teach.
In this case, well before the inspection the process should include:
1. Showing the junior member how to verify what ribbons they have earned.
2. Purchasing the right rack - no freestyling.
3. Purchasing replacement ribbons for any that are frayed or faded.
4. Using the ribbon ranking poster or internet tool to arrange in the correct order ensuring they are right side up in some cases.
5. Showing hot to carefully mount the ribbons on the rack.
6. Showing in the Uniform regs the proper placement of the rack on the uniform garment.
7. Providing verbal praise and letting the member know they are ready to teach others - with emphasis on using the regs - not guesswork.

I once had a SFC that had oak leafs on her overseas ribbon and NCOPDR...smh I pulled her a side and I told her that this was incorrect she just shrugged her shoulders and said well that's what's on my DA photo so it must be right. And to top it all off she did get selected for E8 on her first look. Just another example of how screwed up the promotion system is.

Similar. Had a SSG promoted to SFC with a DA photo that had the "Korean Service Medal" (for Korean War, 15 years before he was born) instead of the "Korean Defense Service Medal" (1955-Present). Nobody caught the "Bluebird" and white colored ribbon. (yes, that is the official color).

SCPO Jason McLaughlin - Not too long, not too long, I transferred afterwards. Later they had a big ftx planned, worked well on paper, this Cmdr asked me to stop by the unit for my advice, he refused it and the FTX was a complete cluster and half the units equipment was lost in transfer, you name it. He somehow found another unit, a long way off and was still there about 5 years ago.
