Today, I will be carrying the Air Force flag in honor of my Father. After the parade, I will emcee the Memorial Day Ceremony at Legion Memorial Park. Hope everyone has a productive day that reminds us of the sarifices made by the many who never came home alive. Let us continue our work repatriating the remains of the KIAs, never forgetting our POW/MIAs

Donna Brickey - A couple glitches, but not involving me. We did a piece called The Price of Freedom. We had re-enactors from 10 wars from the Revolutionary to Afghan Wars stand behind the grave markers for their war. As they proceed to the markers, one of our members shared the number killed and injured. He skipped WWII and we had him go back to share those numbers. When he got to the Iraq War he didn't have the numbers. We also had a 3 volley rifle salute planned. When they were supposed to fire, they didn't. When the squad commander didn't call them to attention in preparation, I, as emcee, had to call on the commander to start the salute. Everything else was great. We had a high school student who has a great voice sing the National Anthem. Her voice will take your breath away as she sings. She will be going to Iowa State this fall. We were supposed to get rain. The parade started at 9:00. The ceremony started at 10:00 and ended at 10:56. The rain came at 12:30. It has been a great day for us to honor those who gave their lives for us

I pray that you and I honor the memory of our friends and family members who fell in battle or succumbed to their wounds, my friend and brother-in-Christ SP5 Dennis Loberger.
I pray dear God that YOU pour a special blessing on those spouses and children of service members who were killed or died since Memorial Day 2018. Enable them to have peace tonight and rest well.
I pray that YOU guide YOUR adopted sons and daughters to be a blessing to the recent widows, widowers and orphans in this nation. YOU know their needs and I pray that YOU will do what needs to be done to meet each need of these recent widows, widowers and orphans.
Let each and every one of service men, veterans and their families rest well tonight dear God.

SP5 Dennis Loberger - It sounds like many were honored and blessed and that you had a zillion details to manage. Thanks for making the day special for those so deserving of honor.

Good morning COL Mikel J. Burroughs so glad to be home! Given a wonderful greeting by my spouse and my fur kids.
Today is the day we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. I am always saddened at the number of people who think this day is about barbecues, sales in the stores or other mundane things. It is not. It is a time to stop and remember those who made the sacrifice so that we could live in freedom (and perhaps someday in peace).
"America without her soldiers would be like God without his angels" ~Claudia Pemberton
Today find a way to honor the sacrifice of our brothers and sisters and those who went before. Don't forget the families of the fallen. They sacrificed too.

This is the first Memorial Day that I have not had to drive back from my brother/sister-in-law's in a very long time, so we were able to attend the remembrance service at the church. It is a ceremony put on by the local American Legion. Very well done and solemn service.
