As we have seen over the past couple of years - the chaos of figuring out who is the GoI Order of Battle is not one that is easily tracked. This is a good item for a read over of the different forces . PMP forces are usually Iranian backed and some units are advised by IRGC.. or at least the better ones tend to be.

I just hope Iraqi military can defend themselves against future threats. The US invested a lot in building the Iraqi Army and police

Cpl Mark A. Morris - At this time.. what does the Iraqi army consist of? As for the PMP... concur Mark - it should be called the Iraqi Shia Army.... being it is part of the Army.. maybe that would be a heads up type item for those who prefer to not see it as such...

Doing my homework I realize that there is legitimate concerns regarding the existence of Iraq post ISIL movement my concern is with parts of the country like Kurdistan being autonomous and likely succeed from Iraq as a whole do you think it's likely that Iraq could split 4 ways in the comings decade? Am not sure as to 4 ways - but 3 ways has been problem a long while. Iraq exists only as far as it's government can control it.. and no further. When the next Iraqi Civil War is fought.. hope we are gone from the scene or at least only in Kurdistan... But the next one is coming if the flames from the last one are not delt with - and PMP is much better at starting fires than they are at firefighting. There are answers to how to federalize the Iraq system and bring about the Iraqi state.. but getting those to agree to it is the least likely scenario... particularly when it is not in Iran's interest to see a strong Iraq emerge from the fire...

I was thinking Iran might be the fourth player because of their support might annex part of Iraq it would seem advantageous to do so.
