From my experience (Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Carter) it just seemed like the Republicans had more respect for the military.

SP5 (Join to see) - Lying and cheating? It appears the military is following its present leadership in Washington, DC. Lying and cheating to get re-elected or promoted appears to be the new pastime. So... in today's society "lying and cheating" is the norm. David, I that plain enough?

Yea there is a clear difference between conservatives and liberals when it comes to treatment of the military..
My worry is when the SHTF, and I fully believe that day IS coming, will enough good military who remember their OATH, be left to stand firm per the Constitution or will they just follow orders?

Carter was horrible towards us but Reagan was very respectful!! Carter would not even acknowledge we existed when he rolled Air Force 1 onto our base and he refused to even acknowledge the Marine who came down and stood at the bottom of the stair just got in his limo and was gone same on his return. Reagen would at least raise his hand.

We got good pay raises from Republicans Ford and Reagan. Under Democrats we were lucky to get a cost of living raise that covered inflation. Case in point, Carter.

SCPO Ronald Riml thanks for the Wikipedia cut and paste. It was STILL not Nixon, by even your post, that Nixon encouraged Vietnam. As you posted, it was Johnson that made the push to get into that conflict.

It appears that President Trump just vetoed the Defense budget bill. Pretty sad.

Eh. Bitterly complaining about everything is one of the finest traditions of military service. The only thing that ever changes is who they’re whining about
