Let's say you got elected somehow, to serve as the United States President. What's the very first thing you would attempt to do to improve this nation? Got any fresh ideas?

Executive Order to create term limits for the Senate and House of Reps. Because, if it is good enough for the goose, then it is good enough for the gander.

CPL Shawn Lawson - It'd take a Constitutional Amendment, but your heart is in the right place.

SSG (Join to see) - I think that reasonable people can debate whether or not illegal aliens should be deported or some other dispensation is in order. What I think is pretty much indisputable is the cost/ benefit in terms to the government. Illegal immigrants are net consumers of taxpayer money, and it is not close. Any costs associated with deportation efforts and lost revenue to the government would be more than offset by the benefit payments that are terminated.
The more complicated issue is how illegal immigrants have settled into the overall economy. They are integral to several industries including farms and provide inexpensive labor. We as Americans have grown accustomed to inexpensive food and services. That would change if they were all sent packing. Some industries might not recover at all.
That is why this isn't as simple as "throwing them all on a bus to the border".

Ok! Let's see how we can solve this. Your reasoning is somewhat average, lotsa stats, figures and such. You are for sure the offspring of an immigrant. I say shitcan the stats. and start deporting the offspring of the immigrants who came from Europe. That's you guys! It appears that you are talking about the Mexicans when you mention "border. It is evident by your narratives that you maintain the military attitudes, hints and clues to hurt and destroy people who are not like you. Studies have shown that (Mexicans) immigrants are not heavy consumers of the services while here. In fact they contribute to the economy by paying taxes while contributing to Social Security and not collecting on it. A news article, magazine article, I not sure which one, gave an account of an event whereas farmers were recruiting for field workers. 236 White people applied along with the Mexican farm workers present. Work started the next day. About half of the White folk showed up for work. After the first day of work, the next day 6 white workers showed. By the end of the month not a white worker to be seen. My point being, They are not taxing the economy and taking from it. They'll clean your house, nanny you offspring, pick your salad, strawberries, prepare you room at a hotel, be your all around maid or gardener, cut your steak at the slaughter house but most of all they will prepare for you the best original Mexican Dinner you've ever tasted. Hell they'll even teach you Spanish if you're so inclined.

Reopen Ellis Island and require all immigrants to register there (or somewhere like it) prior to being allowed to work. Issue a biometrics card that is very difficult to forge and require it for employment as a non-citizen. Fine heavily any business/ entity that disregards this rule and is found with undocumented workers. Require that this card be presented for any government benefits or non-emergency hospital visits.
Sit back and watch the magic happen.

Cpl Roger Cortez - That is what advocates would have us believe. Some crops are indeed hand-picked by migrant workers. Most are not.
I am not anti-immigrant - I am pro doing it the right way and legally.

The crops that migrants don't pick are minimal. But I do agree with you except how do you do it the right way? Do you separate families, cage children, etcetera....etcetera? And to commit these atrocities is that the legal way?

Cpl Roger Cortez - Everything harvested in my neck of the woods is not harvested by hand. Potatoes, sugar beets, corn, soybeans, wheat... all machine harvested.
As for immigration, as I said above, everyone that wants to come to America goes through a common port of entry, where they are checked out for contraband, disease, ability to work, and biometric information taken. If everything checks out, in you come.
But no free shit, outside of some basics to get started for those with nothing.
Grant a work card of some sort good for a fair period of time - say 5 years or so. After that, they either take the test to be a citizen or go home. They can always reapply.
But come in the wrong way, and as soon as your discovered, out you go. Except this time, you can't come in the right way until a cooling off period goes by... say a year or so.

Yes Sir Top... I like this way. I think you have a viable plan here. If only the government could lend itself to follow through.
