Why Does Spielberg's '1941' Work So Much Better 40 Years Later?

I actually look forward to it, one can only take so many Hallmark Channel Christmas movies! :-))

I have never been a fan of sophomoric comedy. It seems to me lower than slapstick. Thus, I have never been a fan of SNL or its alumni. However, many of them like Belushi, Murray, and others were effective when part of an ensemble including actual comedic actors and "1941" is an excellent example. I didn't have to wait for it to "wear" on me. I liked it from the beginning...

One of my favorite movies; especially the M4 Sherman tank crew.
