In my opinion, absolutely not. The NCO Creed should be a creed that is followed by every soldier regardless of rank. Take pride that you were once An NCO. A majority of the best officers I have known were prior enlisted. Do not forget where you come from sir.

If anything, they are showing respect for the position and title. To many sissies that get in their feelings these days. I as well believe that the best warrant and officers I came across in my time were prior enlisted ncos.....

MSG (Join to see) - I think perhaps that you need to reflect on why an officer would want to join in the recitation of the NCO Creed an perhaps understand that an NCO stood beside an officer at all grades/positions of authority as his mentor. Any officer that would want to recite the creed was blessed with a superb mentor.

What an amazing question! If the officer does recite the nco (lowercase) creed. Is one who reads this post to assume such a recitation make him a sub-human or something. Does a NCO reciting the officer's creed make him a super NCO? I don't think so!!!! One is still and NCO and the other an officer.

I don’t believe it is disrespectful, if you review the words of the creed, although they are intended for service as an NCO, they are tenants of good leadership. You wore the stripes, you have every right to recite the creed as much a SPC on an E5 promotion board desiring the honor. As an officer, don’t hesitate to distinguish yourself from your peers. Rely on your experience. Most of us “mustangs” were motivated to become officers to see leadership done better. Not a desire to imitate the status quo. Your bond with the NCO corps (even through a creed) will make you a better officer.

There is a time and a place. Usually the 1SG or CSM will call on “All NCOs, past, present and future” to recite the creed and then go for a run. It is meant to rally all enlisted regardless of rank, but that magic word “past”is an invitation for retired NCOs AND warrants and officers who are former NCOs to join in and motivate the “future” NCOs.

I don't think it's disrespectful, but you should probably just allow the NCOs to have their time. You're an Officer now, and regardless of your past history, that's who you are. It's great that you are proud of your time in the NCO ranks and I'm sure it will be helpful in your new path, but perhaps it'd look better on you going forward to just recite it in your head next time.
