McClellan Still Swarms with Soldiers, Thanks to National Guard

I went to Fort McClellan back in 1994. I was part of the Bravo Company, 787th MP BN. 3 years later, I went as a 2LT to the MP Platoon Leader BOLC ( Called Officer Basic then). Today in 2021, Consolidated Officer Candidate School at the base has helped the ARNG and the USAR. Good times!
Because I speak Spanish fluently, I was assigned to a Salvadorian Officer in officer basic. He was a well-trained officer who served in the El Salvador Civil War. He was able to kill the OPFOR at night when they tried to infiltrate and storm into our TOC. In basic training, I was assigned to a Puerto Rican who did not speak much English. I had to remind a couple of racist soldiers that Puerto Ricans are American Citizens!
The DOD is going to change the name but it will always be Fort McClellan to me.

I was stationed at Ft McClellan from 1984 to 1986 LTC (Join to see).
I worked at the STU/TNE MILPO.
Are you aware of the contamination of the water and soil at McClellan?

I bet due to the CBRN School? My kids did not come out deformed. I was only there for about 7 months total on two different occasions.

Site has some opinion but is good for its references. Read the US Corps of Engineers report—has interviews of employees who dumped chemicals into trenches and bulldozed over them.
Monsanto paid millions to Anniston homeowners for their PCB leaching.
Ever wonder why the fenced area across from the MP museum with radiation warning signs exists? Lost radiation test source from the former training classroom that was in the museum. No need to hurry there, it will be there for 300+ years.
The Fort and Pelham Range are two separate EPA sites.
Did it affect my health. Dunno.

But remember, 30 years later VA is recruiting from the Burn Pit Registry including 1st Gulf War and post 9-11 war exposure.

Thank you for this. Hope the Guard finds ways to expand this into a premier training site that other states will utilize. Right now North Carolina utilizes Ft. Bragg and Ft. Stewart (Georgia). Moving sites down to McClellan might be a win.

MAJ Ronnie Reams yep, I forgot Butner. Especially since my old Guard oufit, the 120th Infantry, headquartered in Wilmington, has a unit, Company A, there at Jacksonville. The armory is about one mile from Butner's main gate.

MAJ Ronnie Reams happen. Shot the KD course at Sneads Ferry. I was tge hand receipt manager for the 119th. Had site visits in Ahoskie and the other unit locations. Did not know they shot down on those ranges. Makes sense though given where those units are located. A whole closer than going to Braggs ranges.
