Re-enlisted for Fort Carson while deployed 4 months ago, got PCS orders for February. Without getting specific, things have changed and I want to stay at 10th MTN. I'm going to talk to my career counselor tomorrow but before I do figured I'd ask how likely it is to make that happen or if it's at all possible. Appreciate the help. Thanks.

It is very simple. You will sign a memo waiving your reenlistment option and you will need to get a 4187 signed through your Battalion Commander requesting deletion of the assignment. Your career counselor will submit both of those and you should expect to see your orders deleted within days

Do not try to delete it through S1. They will send it up to HRC, who will kick it back 2 months later and tell you to resubmit it through your career counselor. When you reenlist for an assignment, any changes to it to go through your career counselor.

Say you are not going to re-enlist and they may keep you at present duty, however if your unit is going you may wind up over there anyway.

It is not a likely scenario, it can’t hurt to ask. Thank you for your service.
