Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "The X Ray Sky from eROSITA." And here I thought that Spektr was only found in James Bond stories. Not so. The Spektr-RG (Röntgen + Gamma) satellite, launched in July 2019 from Baikonur Cosmodrome, carries the eROSITA X-Ray telescope that is responsible for today's APOD. X-rays are about 1,000 times more energetic than visible light photons and are produced by violent explosions (e.g. supernovae) and high temperature astronomical environments. Mouse over the image from the APOD page to see its details. The plane of the Milky Way is across the image center.

Good Tuesday Morning, Maj William W. 'Bill' Price and thank you very much for this outstanding X-Ray image of our Milky Way Galaxy, one that I am sure many have never seen, including myself! Simply amazing!
