One of the many things I look forward to when I return from overseas, is being able to fly the U.S. flag in front of my house. Today, 14 June, is Flag Day. On this day, back in 1777, congress created/approved our first American Flag.

I fly the flag every day! I even put a solar-charged light on the flag for nighttime display.

Related story: when I was stationed in South Carolina years ago, the school that my kids attended had a policy against reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. The entire time we lived in SC, we always brought the flag out in the morning and recited the pledge before school.

Wonderful!! What a great idea to recite the pledge with your children before school, such a shame that some schools are getting away from such a time honored tradition. Yes, those solar-charged lights are great. Thank you for sharing.

Lt Col Luis A. Rojas - I'm happy to say the schools My children and now My Grandchildren attend do recite the pledge of allegiance each and every school day and all classrooms display the flag at the front of the classroom as they should. The solar charged light is an excellent idea, My Sister in Laws Husband has a flag pole in His front yard that also is displayed that same way with the solar powered light . He is a veteran of the US Navy.

Nothing like seeing Old Glory flying proud. The US flag was the first item we placed up in our RallyPoint HQ.

Yes, it's beautiful to see it. I used to only fly Old Glory in front of my house during the day, until I decided to set up a spot light in order to display it at night as well.

I sure am flying the Flag of the United States on My home and here it is. Just to the right of the window on the right also is a light that shines on that flag. This flag is brand new and I used it just before Memorial day to replace the older flag that had done its service. The Old flag was brought to the American Legion Post of which I'm a member after it was Tri Folded here so it can be disposed of properly with honors in a ceremony at the post.
