I completed BCT 16 November 17, shipped to AIT at Ft. Huachuca, AZ where I became a security hold under from 18 Nov until I separated on 23 May. I am considered Glossary Proir Service. I am not MOS-Q. The recruiters say that I should be inserted during the AIT portion of BCT, but I am looking to hear someone's experience who has been reclassed or has had reclassed soldiers in their platoon?

I can tell you how it works even though I have been out for well over 30 years because I went through the process, watched my nephew do the same, and used to be a Mod for an Army Forum on another website and spoke with a number of Drill Sergeants. The answer is nobody here can tell you when you will be inserted. Guess why? Because they give you a diagnostic PT Test at Reception as well as look at your past training records specifically weapons qualification (and how close that is to expiration as well as your overall score). The two biggest items that determine when you will be inserted are those two items for Prior Service, last weapons qualification (and potentially how you did) and overall PT test score. Your PT test score sucks your going to be inserted in week 3 or 4. Weapons score sucks they are going to insert you about the time your class starts to qualify on weapons. The Infantry school could care less that you attended BCT before, Infantry is OSUT and they want you to do well at your first Infantry unit. So that's why they do those diagnostics at Reception. Also this conforms with my experience in OSUT way back in 1982. There wasn't a specific week where they inserted the Prior Service or Reclass folks, they inserted them during multiple times of the cycle, depending on where we were in training and what training they felt the reclass needed. Another item to consider as well with PT. The expectation for PT test score overall for Infantry unit is 270 or above...…...it's not barely passing. This is to be reflected in the new PT test as well, expectation of min score for Infantry PT Test will be higher than other MOS'.

Also, I think they extended Infantry OSUT or they plan to again this fall for some cycles to greater than 13-14 weeks. I think they are going greater than 20 weeks, ask your recruiter for the new Infantry OSUT timeline. It was announced on this website not too long ago.

Depending on where some cycles are currently they may throw you in mid-cycle and let you finish with that company. Or they may allow you to stay at the reception company until one of the cycles finishes the BCT portion and send you to complete the OSUT there. If I were you, I'd hope to get picked up mid-cycle because 30th AG is a hellhole lol. Good luck!

SPC (Join to see) - Oh, trust me. Everything you heard is more than likely true, reception at 30th is horrible. But, I just don't see the likeliness of you not having to complete some phase of OSUT. You may not have to from the beginning. It will all depend on how far along the companies are and do they have the extra capacity to hold you.

1LT Kevin Chapman Makes sense. I wouldn't mind being inserted in like week 9 or something like that and then do the AIT portion of OSUT. I've read about a few unlucky guys that got thrown into week 2 or 3. Hopefully that doesn't happen to me.

SPC (Join to see) - Ah don't stress the process, if it does you'll get the opportunity to brush up on your solider task and drills since you've been out for a while.

1LT Kevin Chapman True. I've only been out for 4 months lol, but you're right. No need to complain about it. Adapt and adjust.

Are you enlisted with the previous MOS or do you have a different MOS?

Once your waiver get approved you’ll be going to AIT. You won’t be considered a MOS-T because you didn’t get MOS qualified when you were in before, so you’ll follow the same guidelines as a Soldier who just completed basic training...I hope this
