Did you get out completely? So you are looking to get back in on the AF side? As a Reservist?

Assuming all those answers are "yes'.... You will have to find a Recruiter, take the ASVAB again, process through MEPS again, etc... You will have to retrain into a new field (Army=MOS; AF=AFSC) since AF does not have 11B or any variation that would transfer.

Most critical, you will have to learn how to enjoy a DFAC and housekeeping services. I know, the challenges of the military, right? :)

I've been to Salerno a couple times. That's not the point. I'm asking because I want to go from an 11B to a PJ and I've talked to a recruiter and have been given the run around because of the years in service/rank I have

Settle down, salty. I was having a bit of fun while imbuing you with guidance. :)

"Have been given the run around because of the years in service/rank I have"... What part are they giving you the run-around? Because they haven't said direct "yes"? I have found that if that is the case, sometimes it is either not doable or the Recruiter that stands to gain little from recruiting under certain criteria.

Also, 2LT James Montgomery is correct. Commission is another avenue if that is feasible but requires Bachelor's degree. AF has Combat Rescue Officers (CROs) which serve as the "Officer PJs", so to speak.

By run-around I meant given a number to call so and so, only to be given another number to someone else who "has time for it". Then that person not answering. From my understanding a recruiter has almost nothing to benefit from recruiting someone prior service over a fresh recruit. I'm trying to find out if there is a way to enlist and then go PJ. Sorry if my last message came off wrong. I appreciate any and all help

SPC Ben Welk probably the closest thing to 11b (and it's a stretch, but probably the closest thing that the AF has to offer) is Security Forces - we're the only ones they trust enough to let have guns :)
Shouldn't be too hard. Your biggest challenges will be what that good CMSgt (Join to see) said, ESPECIALLY that last part.

Having been around both services, my father was a retired Air Force E7, I would think that Combat Controller or TACP would be a better fit for an 11B.

CPT Lawrence Cable - probably, but would have to get through selection, first.

Indeed, Sir! There are comparable AFSCs, but not one that would allow a direct transfer without retraining in Tech School. For example, when I transferred from the Army to AF, I was a Combat Medic. I was able to come right into the AF with no additional Tech School after MEPS, etc.

That would be so much more helpful if it wasn't 2017. That was 3+ years ago. I understand they have "open enrollments" in the Air Force, but for someone who is really wanting to join now, to go into a very specific field, to be held back by years in service/rank? I want to know what I can actually do to get to where I want and NOT spend another 8yrs of my life given the hopes and dreams speech I was given when I first signed up
