No, not required.
I do think that if you really want to cut down on cowardly internet sniping, a requirement for your real, full name should be required.
Professionals have no reason to hide their identity and own their own statements.

I agree with that, being anonymous empowers some people to be more bold and make cowardly statements with no consequences.

SSG (Join to see) - Nailed it, SSG James Phelps. I feel if you have the stones to make a comment, show who you are with your name and rank (rate). But, I do see the paranoia on the part of some, and that's OK. As long as they have been verified.

If old boy is nuts and can't debate logically, he might earn a trip to my banned bin, but no more.
I think telling a Soldier's unit is cowardly and passive-aggressive, and just rubs my fur wrong. I can correct a deficiency myself, thank you very much, and I don't need UCMJ to do it. There have been a number of occasions that I have messaged a member and advised them to revise their internet comments to make sure that they DON'T get in trouble with the man. Eyes are always on sites like this.
Like I said, if you act professionally in your internet postings, you have nothing to worry about.

I like the idea, but the minute you make it mandatory, you'll start seeing google pics of random individuals who are not who they claim to be on here. I do think we should be able to see the name of the individuals tho. If you're really worried about being "seen" or "hacked" or even spotted by your CoC, then you should take a knee, drink some water, and re-evaluate why you're on RP or any other social media site. (Insert rank here) Servicemember should not be allowed in my opinion.

I do not think it should be required to have a picture. But, it is nice to be able to put a name to a face as we are having conversations with each other. It also projects a more professional appearance when you have your picture on your profile. Though I do think that everyone should be required to use their full name and not just initials. This may help cut down on the trolling on the site. Plus, you never know, someday you may want to reach out to a member for assistance with a job, or you may actually end up trying to work for someone on here.

Good Point. A lot of members also have the name ("Servicemember") displayed to anyone they aren't connected with. You can do this from your privacy settings.

Of course, you can always email a photo in response to a query to that specific person and request that it not be forwarded.

Excellent point SSG Halverson. I have checked out members for future employment endeavors and some future hires for my companies recruiting department. Hire Vets we are the best. As Donald Trump would say.
