And, according to the story, that’s with work output being equal.

SSG Samuel Kermon - You get more done 'away from the flagpole', but eventually you have to embrace the suck and be a 'presence' on the team.

Agreed. Even though people may be turning in the same or more work, the perception is that they are somehow "privileged" or have it easier for being home.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - I'll tell you what, teaching from home was a lot more work that being in the classroom! I hated remote teaching and hope we never have to go back to it. I came close to just retiring last year because of it but I stuck it out in the hopes of better days to come.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - I worked in the corner of the production area at Microdyne, by myself. I was twice as productive as anyone else in the deparment, aand four times a few of them. My supervisor told me he put me there, because 'You are hard to get along with'. I itold him, "I'm here to work. I don't spend half the day talking to people, drinking coffee or taking smoke breaks. I don't spend hours on the phone, I work and no one likes that." I made them remove a wall phone near my workbenches, because the assembly workers gave that line for people to call them at work, and I was expected to go track them down to talk on company time. That line was moved to my supervisor's cubical. He didn't believe how many calls that I was getting, until he was sppending two or three hours a day telling people not to call back.

My wife works from home and her company likes it that way, so does she. The company is downsizing it's footprint yet maintaining its staffing and abilities so for her company everyone appears to be winning.
