There are none so blind as those that will not see ,but a spot of blood they do see which is the measure of their Honor.

CW3 Michael V, :
Very unlikely the award would be granted to all who have PTSD , There are levels of PTSD as there should be with a blood wound but is not. The Foundation may not question the severity of a blood wound for the award, however there are many out here do feel there should be a qualification for the blood wound. Sorry this steps on the feelings of those who feel this would degrade the value of the award ,I would guess that those who feel as yourself have not given much thought on the subject of PTSD , The Foundation most certainly needs to be better informed . Have a look Michael at the many who have ended their lives because of this horrid traumatic event that has ruined their lives.

Best wish's for a good day.

The military is becoming like little league sports. Everyone wants (and gets) a trophy. Everyone now, it seems, wants a purple heart even if they don't want to actually receive a wound in combat to get it.

This will be another medal ruined by the wanton awarding of it. If anyone can get it without ever leaving the wire because of stress or an inability to deal with adversity then the medal is just fabric and metal. How about sexual harassment, some claim PTSD after an occurrence, do they get a purple heart too? How about the sick bay commando that suffers every known malady to man and can demonstrate PTSD, does he/she get it too?

The purple heart was created for actual flesh and blood wounds in combat. Why ruin the medal? Create your own PTSD medal then we can tell the difference at least.

CPL Jeff:
I understand your concerns of awarding the PH cart blanch across the board given away like m&m's to any military claiming PTSD, of course this would lower the PH recognition awarded to those Soldiers who were wounded in COMBAT fighting for their Country / However Cpl Jeff , what about those Soldiers that signed up as your self to go where ever do what ever as you did and were fighting close to you when a shell explodes over his head shaking his brains off their mounts suffering long time effects of this, he put his boots on like you did, picked up his rifle like you did, What these Men Jeff ?

PTSD PH Needs to pass through a more Official Board for a final Judgement , Presently all we are doing is playing with words.

An appeal to the Purple Heart Foundation Needs Answered For the many Combat Veterans with PTSD that were purposely sat aside from the Award as UNQUALIFIED !
In that the Blood Only Award was made with out full knowledge of what Constitutes a Combat Wound. This needs an updated clarification ! Also
Needs an endorsement from the Board of the Veterans Administration.

I think it's ridiculous! Early on, a soldier only had to STATE that he had PTSD and he was "treated"! The Purple Heart would become a Laughing Stock !!

LTC Armond:
You think it is easy ? to claim PTSD, and he will get a purple heart ? ( like the guy with the scratch / It will be a bit tougher than that. But go ahead send in your best Faker , let us hear about it, The PH is not a laughing stock, however scratch's & bullets bouncing off the Helmet Makes me wonder.
