I expect you appreciate the winter celebration of Christmas and the exchanging of gifts. Hopefully you are aware that the gifts of the wisemen to the toddler Jesus in Bethlehem is the basis for exchanging of gifts at Christmas time. ‘When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. LORD I lift the homeless individuals and families to YOU on this Christmas Day. I pray that YOU protect each homeless individual and family – especially the children. I pray that YOU motivate good Samaritans to bless the homeless with shelter and food – especially in the cold areas of this nation. ‘And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.’ [Luke 2:6-7 ESV]
I pray for each adopted son and daughter of YOURS this early Christmas morning. It is no coincidence that our festivals at this time of year have to do with lighting candles or other forms of standing against the darkness of this season. It is a time to find joy, to share goodwill, to reach out to others with kindness and love. Regardless of your traditions find a way to share some holiday spirit with others less fortunate. Reach out to old friends; remember those who have gone ahead or are ill in your prayers. In short, be an example of all that is good in the world.
