Why is a grade wavier needed for 27D if you already re-enlisted for the re-class and have an AIT school date?

SGT (Join to see) what happened is you're in a balanced MOS so the Career Counselor was able to lock in the class themselves. In their eagerness to get the class seat they failed to check all the prerequisites sources. If you were an under strength MOS and they would have been required to send the request to HRC to lock in the class seat, HRC would have required the grade waiver and a typing test. FYI 27D requires you be able to type at least 50 words per minute

Okay, I did the typing test and that was it. I’m working on my wavier now, and I have to send it up to the school house. Hopefully it’s not a tough process to go through. They asked for recommendations from unit SJA, erb, all 1059s, NCOERs,

SGT (Join to see) that's a lot of stuff, but the JAG Enlisted Corps can be a very anal retentive Corps to deal with. For every other MOS it's just a 4187 and an ERB. Be prepared to get denied, especially if you're currently promotable. Same thing for your friend. If that happens, go to the Career Counselor and they will process the defective contract and HRC will offer to renegotiate the reenlistment option for you. Don't delay if you are denied.
