Is there a policy that relates to non US born soldiers not being allowed to working MI MOSs?

Hi there! So I’m actually a Security Manager and MI.

So, the answer is actually No. there are countless service members who are foreign born and carry TS/SCI eligibility and in fact are MI. What matters is the fact that you are now a U.S. Citizen and do not carry dual citizenship, and if you continue to keep foreign contacts, that you report it to the investigative organizations, who are conducting your background check. Don’t be dissuaded.

SPC (Join to see) I don’t see why you couldn’t do those. I would simply try and see where it takes you.

You would have extreme difficulties doing any MOS that would require you to get into certain facilities. 35M/L/F would be more open to you.

Yes. Foreign born individuals with ties to other countries are not eligible for a TS clearance unless waived, which is rare

Policy changed that is now forcibly reclassing individuals. It’s MILPER 20-299.

If the country you were born in falls on the list and you have ANY type of family that remains in the country, you can not be a 35N, 35P, or a 35SSPC (Join to see)

SPC (Join to see) , what country were you born in? SIGINT MOSs such as 35N, 35P, and 35S have specific limitations, such as if you were born in Russia or China, you may not be in the MOS. I can dig up the MILPER if necessary (Came out a couple of months ago). The reason is that they need access to a specific national agencies systems for many assignments and if that national agency will not give you access, then it doesn't make sense for the Army to train you on said MOS.

As far as different MOS, 35M can be highly rewarding and depending on your nation of birth the Army needs patriots who can fulfill that mission. 35F is also rewarding, and depending on how old you were when you moved over, the difference in perspectives than is common in our recruits (southern mostly), will be highly beneficial when analyzing information.

I hope that helps. If you want additional feedback, let me know. I happen to know several foreign born MI Soldiers, including a former Russian citizen that was a 35M and is now an officer, a previous recruit who was a Georgian, and even an MI Warrant Officer born and raised in Russia.
