How can the National Guard Bureau or DOD consider putting soldiers and Airmen on the streets of DC unarmed? Now I just saw in Army Times that they might not even be wearing body armor. This is insane. No Police officer of any kind would be asked to go out in uniform into what could turn into a Riot unarmed and without their bullet proof vest. ow many agree with me that this is insane. Don't our troops lives matter.

SFC Patrick M. During the hippie days and massive protests in Berkeley, CA, CA Guard Soldiers were armed M-1 Rifles. There was no ammunition available to them. Flower girls, hippies all, stuck flowers in the muzzle of my Battle’s M-1.
During the Watts riots of 1965, the CA Guard there was temporarily stymied by a lack of available ammunition.
