APOD: 2019 November 19 - Milky Way over Uruguayan Lighthouse

Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Milky Way over Uruguayan Lighthouse." Built in 1877, the José Ignacio Lighthouse is in village of José Ignacio in Uruguay's Punta del Este area. Gaps in light from the lighthouse match up nicely with the dust lanes in the band of the Milky Way overhead. The bright spot to the right is the planet Jupiter. This image is a composite of 10 consecutive shots from the same camera at the same location.

"Explanation: Can a lighthouse illuminate a galaxy? No, but in the featured image, gaps in light emanating from the Jose Ignacio Lighthouse in Uruguay appear to match up nicely, although only momentarily and coincidently, with dark dust lanes of our Milky Way Galaxy. The bright dot on the right is the planet Jupiter. The central band of the Milky Way Galaxy is actually the central spiral disk seen from within the disk. The Milky Way band is not easily visible through city lights but can be quite spectacular to see in dark skies. The featured picture is actually the addition of ten consecutive images taken by the same camera from the same location. The images were well planned to exclude direct light from the famous lighthouse."

Good Morning Maj William W. 'Bill' Price and what a Phenomenal APOD for today... It is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! There is no video that projects the image of this APOD..., but I have found a short video of the Jose Ignacio Lighthouse and the area surrounding it so you can get a feel what it would be like to be physically there and look up at the amazing Milky Way Galaxy!
