I wonder about the sentiments of the RP military community considering the fact that 4,190 people contributed over 4 months a total of $173,550 to support Chelsea Manning for a year following her release. I would note she is still on active duty pending resolution of her appeals within the military and the civilian courts - which may result in reversal of her conviction. My point IS NOT that anyone should contribute to Chelsea Manning - instead that it may be rather important for us to understand that there are a huge number of people who do not agree with the sentiment that she should have been automatically given her last meal and sent to the firing squad, exiled to die in the desert, or some other similar penalty intended for traitors. Perhaps the American people have more of a heart than we give them credit for - or perhaps like the US Congress they believe there is too much overclassificatiion of information for which there is no justification other than to conceal our own service member and foreign civilian deaths. We once trusted our citizens to make informed decisions about our policies and operations - now we hide our work behind an impenetrable wall of secrecy. Is so much secrecy really such a good thing? Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

Too many people allowing gender issues to overshadow criminal acts. Manning is a criminal regardless of hormones, plumbing, or insanity.

The traitor took the oath and signed the secrets documentation. Would not rate a firing squad. Serve the full sentence or face the gallows. The comment on career officers and the perfumed pentagon officer crowd was spot on. Respect for those serving that resigned or were relieved from the Barack Hussein liberal socialist running of the military. Those serving deserve much more than leaders kneeling to a corporate run military. There military is no for political correctness period.

correct me if I am wrong, but isn't treason punishable by death? He/she or whatever you want to call it should have to pay for all of the medical treatments received due to being a traitor

Sets a dangerous precedent for future traitors who will claim differential treatment.

People that don't understand the issue and have more money than they need. The entire thread is under transgender, the LGBTQ are supportive of each other, not so much on RP. Most of us see it for what it is, a petulant little creep that gave up classified material. Most of us do not care what he's packing or not.

LTC (Join to see) - Interesting commentary on differences between the original 70mm print (ArcLight raid on Kurtz compound) vs 35mm print (fade to black w/ credits). I remember the 70mm version - was always puzzled by the 35mm version. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

SGT Gregory Lawritson - Here is a typical USDOS NDA for SCI access- says one may be prosecuted for any breach - no specification of potential fines, prison terms, or the death penalty - that all sits elsewhere in the federal court system sentencing guidelines for civilians - not sure what the military courts use for security classification breach sentencing guidelines. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

It is not for people at PVT Manning's level to decide that something is over classified.

1LT Sandy Annala - in anything I have seen, read, or an interview by Manning has there been a discussion of rectifying conscience because the military was doing something wrong, It was always about dumping the entire SIPR duffel bag out for the public to see. Because you are correct, Manning could have gone to the IG or a member of Congress without spilling it all into the public domain. but didn't. Whether it was revenge for keeping Manning bottled up if you will or some need to impress his group of friends Manning acquired before deploying I can't say. Both seem plausible as the helped him get in contact with Wikileaks and the technical means to execute it.

Much of this started with participation trophies and this generation believing equality is at all levels. I received a big awakening when I was a 2LT when I expected enlisted to treat me as I had 2LT when I was enlisted however it is a very different generation today.

The reason the lgbt community was excluded from military service for such a long was they were considered corruptible and a danger to national security. manning proved that belief. Like LTC Jason Mackay said, "Manning could have gone to the IG or a member of Congress without spilling it all into the public domain, but didn't."

I personally really do not care about gender choice, as long they are able and willing to serve with dedication. People all over the world die defending their national flags, and we are far far away from becoming a World United. A traitor is a traitor and must be dealt with with clear definition to deter future offenses, with safeguarding the American people as the ultimate goal. I just do not get the idea that the rights of a few trump the majority. That is elitism, not democracy.
